Finding the right therapist, the one that “gets” you, can be time consuming.
The whole process of sifting through website after website of different therapists, trying to find someone that you click with can feel daunting. You will share your innermost thoughts and feelings with this person yet you are expected to make that decision based on a picture? That’s gotta be one REALLY good picture!
The process of finding the right therapist can be enough to make a person stop looking.
I get it.
This page was created for you. It is a quick way for you to determine if I am the right fit for you. Every therapist brings their own unique set of skills and style to sessions...so let me tell you a bit more about me so you can make the best decision with your time.
First Of All...You Should Know
The life you imagine doesn’t have to remain a dream—it can become your reality. It will require effort to set boundaries, clarify your thoughts, and find balance, but you deserve it. So why not begin today?
This process is about you, not me... so let’s get to it.
In order for you to determine if I am the right therapist for you, let me tell you about the clients that I find I have the most success with helping so you can determine quickly if I am the right therapist for you.
I find that the clients that experience the most success in therapy are those that are ready to put in the work, understand that therapy is a process (no one has a magic wand to make problems disappear) and appreciates a direct and genuine approach.
I try to be the therapist I would want to see.
I will not dance around an issue- I will bring up my observations, thoughts and extend questions in a non-judgmental, conversational approach to get to the root of your challenges. Remember we are trying to build a life you love, not one that is just mediocre. It’s going to take some work.
My approach has led clients to experience improved self-awareness, stronger communication skills and more confidence with navigating so many of life’s curve balls in order to feel more fulfilled, less overwhelmed and confident in making decisions. All of these skills will help to facilitate healthier relationships as well as will allow the restructuring of life in a way that feels right and balanced.
The Stuff that Allows Me to Call Myself a Therapist
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have a BA in Psychology, a MA in Education from Saint Xavier University (Go Cougars) and a Masters in Social Work from Aurora University (We Are SPARTANS). As a lifelong learner, I have received additional training and certifications in cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and solution focused therapy. I have extensive experience working with teens and young adult women with adjustment, behavioral, stress and anxiety disorders.
My graduate studies were extremely rigorous. During my internships, I completed hundreds of hours of direct therapy sessions and received supervision that provided me with tools to sharpen my skills as a therapist. So I am ready for you.
I integrate a few evidence based theoretical orientations in therapy which includes:
Full disclosure---none of these skills provides me with the power of mind reading or fortune telling--I sure wish it did though!
I hope this has helped you decide if I am the right therapist for YOU. Please hit the contact me button and let's get started!
